Finding Jobs as a Teenager

Take out the heartbreaks and mood swings, what is the best part of being a teenager? These are perhaps the best years of your life. You live, learn and enjoy like you will perhaps never do again in your life. After this phase gets over, responsibilities begin to bog you down and you will never find the same freedom again.

It is fun and quite a learning experience when you earn your first salary and that too in your teenage years. It gives you a new sense of freedom and responsibility. So, how can you find a job that is the best for teenagers and what kind of jobs you can do?

• Teach: If you thought that it is only the teachers who can teach, it is wrong. You can even teach your peers or even your juniors. Apart from being a great service, it will no doubt, make your knowledge about the subject very strong. And research says that group studies are more enriching that studying alone. It also mentions that – if a concept is not getting inside a student’s head, it can be best learned from a friend who understands it.

• Repairs: This is great for teenagers who are in their late teens. They can use their knowledge of basic mechanism to repair a few articles at the neighborhood. We are not asking you to change high tension overhead lines! Basic repairing works like that of the bicycles are skateboards can easily be done at home.

• Selling and Advertising: Either you can sell directly or enroll for young models for a particular brand. Often there are vacancies and brands love showing young blood in their advertisements because it is the youth that they wish to target more. This can be a great job with some really attractive pay!

• Community Service: You can choose to do some community service like picking up dry leaves or mowing gardens and even cleaning up the pavements of snow. Apart from being a help to the society, it is a very satisfying feeling to have done something for the community.

• Work at cafes and restaurants: This is advisable for the ones who are in 18 or 19. Solely because this involves a lot of exposure to various kinds of people at the workplace. God forbid, if any incident involves any abuse, which may leave irreparable mental scars for the young teenager, who is still struggling to understand its mind and body.

Teenager employment is not the right word because you’re not being employed permanently. Instead, you’re doing some jobs that are short and your involvement is not as that of the professionals. Finding jobs as a teenager is a great exercise and in the end make your teenager a wiser person!

Experimentation with alcohol: This phase is marked by the teenager trying to get into the habit of drinking alcohol. He tastes liquor and begins to like it. He then decides to frequent parties or join get-togethers where he has an opportunity to celebrate with rounds of booze.
Increase in the frequency of alcohol: He starts to gel with other alcoholics and whenever they meet up, which is more often than not, there is alcohol flowing liberally. The teenager finds it a lot of fun and thrilling to be party to alcohol and guzzle it with these ‘friends’ rather than be with sober friends. It is at this phase where he even mixes drinks with smoke or even drugs. At this stage, the teenager who does not have access to money may just steal money or ask some other friend to lend him money so that he could blow it on alcohol.
The fourth stage of alcohol addiction according to a teen rehab facility, is characterized by teens getting heavily intoxicated and developing health problems, educational problems, social problems and family problems. The teen begins to fall sick and may even suffer from a weak immune system. The educational problem is in the form of falling grades and even suspension from the school. Social problems happen when the society begins to not only shun the child but even the parents for fostering a drunken teenager that can be a bad influence to other kids. Family problems is even worse when the parents reprimand, abuse or even slap their kids for drinking, something that the child may revolt by leaving the home and drinking even more.
The fifth stage is when the teenager actually feels normal and better by drinking. The sober state of life actually makes him feel uneasy and breathless, so much that he finds his sanity only by drinking. This can be a life-threatening state where the teen can take play with his life and even entertain suicidal thoughts.

It is better to take cognizance of the situation, act promptly and take your teenage son or daughter to the best adolescent treatment program and get treated in the best manner possible.

While these do seem to be popular fashion trends, do you really want your child displaying them? If not, you may be wondering what you should do.

When it comes to your teenager and fashion trends that you may not necessarily approve of, your first thought may be to lay down the law. As a parent, this is your right to do, but did you know that you may actually end up causing more damage? Do you remember what it was like being a teenager? If you were like most teenagers, there was a good chance that the last thing you wanted was to be told how to dress by your parents and the same is likely so for your own teen. That is why you may want to think about taking a different approach.

One of the many instances where you should speak to your child about their fashions is if it may end up causing them some harm. Many high schools have dress codes and these dress codes often prohibit the wearing of revealing clothing. While not all schools actively enforce their dress codes, many out there do. Like with being told not wear certain clothes by their parents, many teenagers may feel angered being told by school officials. For that reason, you may want to take action before anything serious happens that could seriously jeopardize your child and their school records. It is not uncommon to hear of instances where children are suspended from school due to not following the school’s dress code.

In short, teenagers and fashion are something that just seems to click together. While it is important for your teenager to fit in with others and be popular at school, they do not necessarily have to be wearing the “hottest,” clothes or fashion accessories to do so. They may not necessarily understand it at the time, but as a parent it is your job to help them and keep them safe.
